Description
Induction Furnaces have three main sections.
1) Converter/Rectifier Section – This section converts AC voltage into DC Voltage, and it normally contains circuit breakers, Fast acting Fuses, Converter SCR, or Diodes.
2) Inverter Section – This section converts DC Voltage to AC Voltage at the required frequency. It contains Fast SCR and IGBT.
3) Capacitor and Coil Section –This contains the Capacitor for oscillation and the Coil for melting and heating purpose.
Very high surge current due to a short circuit on Inverter, Capacitor, or coil side can fail the Diode, SCR, or IGBT of the converter. To avoid a surge current “Current Limiting Reactors” are placed between the Converter and Inverter. Adding a Current Limiting reactor(CLR) provides adequate time for the protection circuit to shut off the power so it can prevent damage.
Electro Power Enterprise designs Current Limiting Reactor with suitable inductance to protect highly sensitive semiconductor devices. To reduce power loss, we used a higher cross-section, good conductive copper. High-temperature adhesive tape is used for high insulation and Epoxy encapsulation to prevent from outside atmosphere and moisture.
